?.When Do Shortness of Breath and Chest Pain Indicate a Heart Problem

Pain in the middle of the chest: The pain increases in intensity with physical exertion and decreases with rest.
Shortness of breath: This symptom especially occurs during physical activity and may also appear during sleep, where the patient finds it difficult to sleep on their back and may need to raise the level of their head.
Weakness in the limbs: Feeling cold or numbness in the limbs due to insufficient blood flow to these areas.
Pain in the left shoulder: Sometimes, the pain extends to the jaw, neck, upper abdomen, or upper back, and it may be accompanied by nausea and vomiting, especially in women, indicating angina.
Heart Electrical Disturbances: This disorder manifests as a rapid or slow heartbeat with a feeling of palpitations or fluttering in the heart muscle. It is accompanied by shortness of breath and fatigue, even at rest, and may cause poor concentration, forgetfulness, and sometimes dizziness and frequent loss of
consciousness
.
Heart Muscle Weakness: This occurs due to complications from arteriosclerosis and coronary artery narrowing, causing symptoms like swelling of the feet or legs, and abdominal bloating due to fluid accumulation (ascites). This results in pressure on the heart muscle and lungs, causing shortness of breath and irregular heartbeats.

Pericardial Inflammation: This may result from a bacterial or viral infection transmitted to the heart through the bloodstream. Key symptoms include persistent coughing (either dry or with white or bloody sputum), fever, heart rate changes, fatigue, shortness of breath, and skin rashes.

Congenital Heart Defects: These defects are typically discovered during childhood or infancy. Prominent symptoms include a change in the color of the lips or skin to light gray or blue, swelling of the legs, abdomen, or the area around the eyes. Infants may also experience shortness of breath during feeding, which affects weight growth.

Heart Valve Problems: Issues with one of the four heart valves can lead to symptoms similar to those    caused by heart muscle weakness, as mentioned earlier.

It is important to be aware of the early symptoms of heart disease to avoid complications. If you experience any pain in the middle of the chest or in the left shoulder, or if the pain intensifies with exertion, or if you experience shortness of breath or irregular heartbeats, you should consult a specialized cardiologist. Early detection of heart disease facilitates its treatment and management, and prevention is always better than cure. Heart health requires special attention, and through prevention and early diagnosis, many health problems related to heart disease can be avoided.
